The Session

The session is the ruling body of the Church and consists of elders and deacons.

Elders and deacons are elected by the congregation. The elders are responsible for the spiritual oversight of the congregation. The deacons are responsible for the ministry of mercy and aid to the needy, in the congregation and in the community. Since the New Plymouth Reformed Church is a church plant, we are supervised by the Reformed Church of Palmerston North. The local elders meet with the Palmerston North session on a regular basis to report on the affairs of the congregation. Regular visits from ministers from the wider church are in place. The local pastor or visiting ministers will conduct the Lord’s Supper and Baptism.
